Eli Martin Phillips arrived on his due date, September 5
th weighing in at 7 pounds 4 ounces and measuring 20 inches long. I was induced since my doctor did not want me to go past my due date and had a very quick labor, only 4 1/2 hours start to finish. Similar to my labor with Ethan, by the time I asked for an epidural the doctor was not available and I was too close to delivery so I had another drug-free delivery. The delivery went fine and little Eli was a peanut compared to his big brother at birth so that made for a much easier delivery and recovery process. Ethan was so excited to come and meet his brother and is very protective of him, especially when he cries. He gets so anxious when Eli cries about anything and strokes his head and whispers "it's okay baby". He loves holding him and gets a
huge kick out of it when Eli looks at him.
The first night went okay, not great as Eli was up most of the night. He had his "
procedure" (aka circumcision) earlier that morning so I think he was a bit drugged out for the afternoon which led him to sleep a lot which meant he was awake well into the wee hours of the morning. So far he is much more alert today so we are keeping our fingers crossed that he has a better night. Nursing has been going well and Eli is already a pro, just like his older brother was from the start.
We came home from the hospital yesterday and have been overwhelmed by the support from neighbors, family and friends. It was a long road to get where we are and we couldn't be happier with our end result. Eli is perfect and we are so lucky to have him as part of our family.

Ethan is an awesome big brother already, I loved seeing how excited he was that Eli was opening his eyes and looking at him, too cute.
