Time is flying
Where does the time go? It is hard to believe that it is already the middle of February. It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating the holidays. We've been busy and like everyone else have had our fair share of coughs, running noses, fevers and colds. It seems like it is a never ending cycle, just when one person seems to be getting better, someone else gets sick. Aside from that, we've been having so much fun with the boys and they make us smile and laugh all the time. Ethan continues to be very affectionate towards Eli though at times tries to do things with him to test the limits, like attempt to pick him up and carry him to me. Although I don't doubt that Ethan is strong enough to carry Eli, it is the fact that Eli's head is hanging at an awkward angle as Ethan attempts to drag him before I can intervene. Ah, the lives of siblings and we haven't even entered the wonderful world of sibling rivalry. Eli always watches Ethan's every move and it is so cute watching them interact together in a way they couldn't a few months ago.
The other new thing in the house is Ethan's love of *shaving*. He got a shaving kit and demands to shave every few days. He is very methodical and serious about it and actually does a really good job.

Eli had also entered the world of the jumperoo and like Ethan, absolutely loves it. He jumps and squeals all the time. Ethan likes to sit in front of Eli while he is in it cheering him on.
It is hard to believe that Eli is already 5 months old. He is very expressive with his face and has a great laugh. He is rolling over though for the most part seems content to just sit or lay watching others. He can almost sit up by himself and loves grabbing and eating his toys. These days EVERYTHING goes in his mouth. His sleeping is for the most part great and lately he has started to take 2 really good naps each day. I'm crossing my fingers that this becomes a pattern but know only too well that something will cause it to change.
Ethan and I have also been very busy lately doing lots of art projects in the house. With all the rain we've had the past couple of weeks I've had to become creative to keep him busy and away from the television. For Valentine's Day, he and I made valentine's for his classmates as well as sent them to cousins and grandparents. It was a two day project and he loved it.
We've also started Eli on oatmeal recently as the poor kid was trying to grab everything I was eating. I let Ethan feed him for the first time and both kids seem to get a kick out of it. The first time Eli ate the oatmeal he seemed to really like it but after that initial time he has not wanted to eat it again. We've tried making it all different ways and he still refuses, grimaces and tries to squirm out of his chair much to Ethan's frustration. I think I will try one more time and then just go straight to baby food.

In other news, I recently took my CA Social Work licensure test and passed. Thank goodness! I had been studying every night for over a month and was very nervous about taking the test. Now I am officially licensed to practice in CA and am hoping to return to the field part-time in the next few weeks. I had a potential job offer a few months ago and was told all I needed to do was obtain my license so I am hoping that position is still available as it allows me considerable flexibility in terms of hours. As for Bryan, he continues to be working extremely hard at the new company and considering the state of the economy is holding his own. He truly loves his new job and it is amazing how much happier he is, which is the most important thing. So, all is well with the Phillips family, it is amazing how the days just keep flying and there is no doubt, our two boys sure keep up busy!!
